UAA Drive Full Closure, August 8 & 9 and August 15 & 16

UAA Drive will experience a full-closure the weekends of August 8 & 9 and August 15 & 16. These closures are necessary for Neeser Construction to safely connect Mallard Lane to UAA Drive.

UAA Drive will be closed from south of Widgeon Lane to Alumni Drive (map below). The closures will be in effect between 8:00 p.m. Friday and 6:00 a.m. Monday for both weekends. The work will entail:

  • August 8 & 9: installation of a storm drain across UAA Drive and Mallard Lane and construction of medians
  • August 15 & 16: paving work around the UAA Drive and Mallard Lane intersection
The project team discussed trying to accomplish this work through individual lane closures; however, this would be impractical because of the nature of the work. Condensing the work to these two weekends allows Neeser to complete the work quickly and safely before the fall semester begins.

1901 Bragaw Cooling Unit Work 7/28 to 8/28

Work to replace the rooftop condensing unit at 1901 Bragaw will start Tuesday, July 28th. This work is expected to last 4-weeks and will impact cooling to the building during this time. The project team will work to improve the time frame. The major milestones for this project are currently as follows:
  • 7/28 - 7/31: Electrical/mechanical demo of the old condensing unit.
  • 7/31: Crane lifts old unit off the roof. The new unit is staged in the parking lot for prep-work.
  • 8/3 - 8/10: New structural steel/rooftop stands for the new unit are installed.
  • 8/11: Crane lifts the new unit onto the roof.
  • 8/11 - 8/28: The new unit is tied into the building's systems.
Please pay attention to all safety flagging. We anticipate the days when the crane is onsite to only be 1/2 days, but during those periods the crane will be blocking the south entrance.

Engineering Building Closed for Renovation Beginning July 20

Beginning Monday, July 20th the Engineering Building will be closed for renovation. This work is expected to last 1 year with the building intended to return to service in Fall 2016.

As previously announced, this closure will include the atrium of the Engineering Building; however, we plan to reopen the atrium stairwell prior to the start of the semester.

Pedestrian flow will be impacted by this work. All pedestrian movement from east and west campus must use the spine to cross UAA Drive. The door into Engineering from the UAA Drive crosswalk will be closed during the renovation.

Ample signage will be placed in the area to direct people.

UPDATED: Electrical Work at West Campus 7/10/15

UPDATE:
This work has been rescheduled to Friday, July 10th.

---
On Thursday, July 9th, Friday, July 10th, contractors will be conducting work on the electrical cabinet that serves West Campus. The work is required to isolate the Wells Fargo Sports Complex so new cabling can be installed.

A plan has been developed with the design team, the contractor, and ML&P that will enable the work to occur while maintaining power to the rest of West Campus. While a disruption of power is unlikely we will have a team on stand by to address any outage.

The following buildings are in the affected area:
  • Allied Health Sciences
  • ANSEP
  • Auto Diesel Technology
  • Beatrice McDonald Hall
  • Bookstore
  • Cuddy Hall
  • Eugene Short Hall
  • Gordan Hartlieb Hall
  • Professional Studies Building
  • Rasmuson Hall
  • Sally Monserud Hall
  • Student Union
  • Wendy Williamson Auditorium
This work is related to the renovation of the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.
