Central Garage Closure, September 15-26

Starting Friday, September 15 and continuing through Tuesday, September 26, the Central Garage will be closed to all parking. This closure is to facilitate repairs to drain lines within the garage. This past winter the drains frequently backed up, creating large areas of ice. This resulted in unsafe conditions for vehicles and pedestrians. These repairs will address this issue. The East Garage and Engineering Garage will continue to be available during this time, as will the surface lot in front of Central Garage.

Thank you for your understanding.

Update Regarding Municipality's UAA Drive Sidewalk Project

This summer the Municipality of Anchorage began a project to add a sidewalk along the west-side of UAA Drive. The sidewalk runs from Mallard Lane to the existing sidewalk next to ECB. The Municipality intended to have the project completed before the start of the semester. They were unable to meet that goal. UAA Facilities has received numerous inquiries about the schedule of this project and when the traffic diversion on UAA Drive will end.

As of 9/5/17 the Municipality reported some rework required on the sidewalk that was installed last week. They expect to address the issue this week, with the intention of returning to the normal traffic pattern by the week of September 11. The work is weather dependent, so there is a chance their schedule will push out again.
