MOA People Mover Bus Stop Expansion

This summer the Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) will be expanding the People Mover bus stop located near Alumni Drive and Providence Drive - just off the Library Plaza. This area will experience significant impacts for the duration of the project, including: partial intersection closures and pedestrian rerouting.

MOA's contractor will begin Wednesday, May 16th, as they begin establishing a new, temporary bus.
Starting the week of May 20th, the contractor will begin work within the existing bus stop area.

Please be aware of personnel and equipment operating in the area, and potential lane restrictions.

East Campus Pedestrian Detours

East Campus between UAA Drive and Alumni Drive will have a significant amount of construction activity this summer. Pedestrian flow through the area will be impacted.

Projects in this area include:

The most significant impact will be access to the Library. For the summer the Library can only be accessed via the north entrance. From the SSB you must walk around the exterior of the library via the Library Plaza and the sidewalk adjacent to the parking lot.

Please follow detour signs and be aware of equipment and personnel operating in the area.

Summer Construction Impacts to Parking and Trails

A number of upcoming maintenance and construction projects will limit availability of parking in and around central UAA campus between May 7, 2018 and approximately August 14, 2018.

The largest impact will be the closure of the Central Parking Garage (CPG) and a portion of the adjacent East Campus Central Lot from May 7 to August 10. This summer closure will allow completion of multiple projects simultaneously. These projects include upgrades and updates to lighting, drainage, garage decks, stairwells, and finishes to improve visibility and navigability. This project will impact pedestrian traffic between west and east campus. The detour route will be from 2nd floor NSB through the CPG section of the spine to 2nd floor SSB - see the map below for additional information.

North Library Lot will be unavailable from May 7 to August 17 to facilitate work on the HVAC and old mechanical systems within the Library.

Portions of Library Lot closest Providence Drive will be impacted by a Municipal project that will also affect westbound traffic flow and pedestrian routes from May 14 to August 17. Watch for signs to redirect pedestrian traffic coming from UAA Housing and trails.

Portions of West Lot near Providence Drive and potentially South Lot near the Bookstore will be unavailable intermittently between June 1 to August 3 to allow for roof replacement and project staging.

Event requests for summer parking accommodation (groups, waivers, should be submitted at the UAA Parking Services web page, use the FORMS button. If you witness unsafe conditions, please report to: 786-6980

Thank you for your understanding as we work to improve campus conditions for you. Please direct parking questions to UAA Parking Services 786-1119 and Facilities questions to 786-1346
