UPDATED: Electrical Work at West Campus 7/10/15

UPDATE:
This work has been rescheduled to Friday, July 10th.

---
On Thursday, July 9th, Friday, July 10th, contractors will be conducting work on the electrical cabinet that serves West Campus. The work is required to isolate the Wells Fargo Sports Complex so new cabling can be installed.

A plan has been developed with the design team, the contractor, and ML&P that will enable the work to occur while maintaining power to the rest of West Campus. While a disruption of power is unlikely we will have a team on stand by to address any outage.

The following buildings are in the affected area:
  • Allied Health Sciences
  • ANSEP
  • Auto Diesel Technology
  • Beatrice McDonald Hall
  • Bookstore
  • Cuddy Hall
  • Eugene Short Hall
  • Gordan Hartlieb Hall
  • Professional Studies Building
  • Rasmuson Hall
  • Sally Monserud Hall
  • Student Union
  • Wendy Williamson Auditorium
This work is related to the renovation of the Wells Fargo Sports Complex.

Update: Alumni Drive Closure Extended to 6/30, Impact to East Campus Cooling

The current closure of Alumni Drive has been extended to 6/30.

Last week crews began excavations to replace corroded storm drain pipe.

During much of this time cooling to Engineering, NSB, SSB, Library, Admin, and Arts will be offline. These buildings are cooled with ground water pumped via wells. The discharge from these wells flows into the storm drains and is currently flooding the trench in East Campus Central Lot

In late 2014, the Neeser Construction to installed a temporary roadway for use by the University, local residents, the Anchorage School District, and the public. This closure will allow the contractor to construct the permanent roadway.

Engineering Building Closed for Renovation, July 2015 to Fall 2016

Beginning mid-July the Engineering Building will be closed for renovation. The work is expected to take approximately 1 year, with the building intended to return to service Fall 2016.

The building closure will impact pedestrian flow between east and west campus. The atrium of the Engineering Building will be inaccessible. This will effectively remove the UAA Drive crosswalk as an option for east-west campus flow. The spine will remain open and people must utilize the stairwell and elevator in the spine to cross UAA Drive. Ample signage will be placed in the area to direct people.

Additional details will be posted as we near the closure.
